Classes this Week: Tuesday, 6:30 to 8:30: This week we are getting jumpstarted into tango with arguably the most useable move in Argentine Tango, the ocho cortado. Works on the floor anywhere, is musical, and it's fun. Plus there are a lot of cool variations that make it even more useable. We will examine multiple options. The first hour is more beginning, the second hour is more advanced.
Thursday Intermediate and Advanced lessons at 6:30 to 9: Do you remember stops and paradas, sandwiches and morditas? If you don't, let's get the memory banks back functioning. If you do. let's practice and perfect, and maybe learn something new. These moves are a lot of fun, and can be beautiful. But don't get stuck following them the same way all the time. These are made for embellishments, but you would no more embellish the same way every time than you would wear the same jewelry with every outfit, right?.

Private Lessons:  Really the only way to get your tango on to the best path with the least amount of confusion!  If you have been vaccinated, we can have a private lesson together. Yes, if you want  a socially distanced lesson you bring your own partner. Or we can do a video lesson - it works great!

Tuesday Milonga: A milonga for those who have been vaccinated. Come and join us! This week's theme: Cream! Wear something cream colored, dance to songs with a Cream theme, bring some creamy drinks, some Cream wine (or creamy wine)  and of course we'll eat some ice cream. Yum!

Musings: We certainly are living in crazy times! Things are a little messy now as we try to return to normal. But perhaps normal is not possible? Perhaps normal is not even what we want? Things have changed a lot, we have learned new ways of coping, new ways of connecting and keeping in touch, and I hope that we don't forget those lessons. First, we learned how important certain things are, and how they are missed when they are taken away, and perhaps it's a good idea to savor them when we have them available. We've also learned that keeping in touch is possible even when we can't meet in person. We had a lot of fun inviting people from all over the tango world to our video meetings this year. It would not be possible to have Oscar Casas at a Tuesday party, or Julia Doynel, Wendy Hueber , Robert Hauk, Batt Johnson, and so many others who shared their knowledge and experiences with us. I got to teach multiple lessons on the music, the orchestras, the singers and other things I never get to.
