Join me Saturday night, July 2,  in downtown Minneapolis for a night of Argentine Tango at Four Seasons Dance Studio. Relax in an inviting, bohemian atmosphere and dance to the classic tangos of the Golden Age. Although there is no lesson beforehand, beginners are welcome.

Light snacks, wine and soft drinks are available. Feel free to BYOB.

Troilo’s mother bought him a bandoneon when he was

10 years old for 140 pesos (Less than $8 today!),

to be paid off in monthly installments.

The investment was immediately successful.

The merchant from whom the instrument had been purchased

died after the fourth payment, and no one ever collected the rest of the debt.

 

Troilo played the same bandoneón for most of the rest of his life,

100th Lesson Celebration Milonga & Party
Passport to Live and its Dance For Your Health program have reached a milestone. On July 6th we will have presented our 100th weekly Argentine Tango class to our participants…so come help us celebrate, and also to support the National Parkinson's Foundation, and also help the Eagles Aerie #34 "raise the roof". Featuring live music.

Summer fun! Outdoor tango! And Argentina's bicentennial! (And, of course, the TSoM 2nd-Saturday milonga that evening)

A TSoM sponsored event, we have joined up with Bataclan Tango to put on a blow-out tango-centric celebration on July 9th. But we could use your help.

We have rented the entire Boom Island Park for the entire day on July 9th. Yes, it is expensive. Yes, it is a lot of work. But, most important, it will be a lot of fun.

We have two performances: 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Please come and join the fun. You can watch — but wouldn't it be even more fun to jump in and join us? Please do!

The park is located at 9191 Lincoln Street NE, Blaine, MN 55434. Enter the park on Lincoln St. We will be performing at the "Demonstration/Performance Pavilion" near the southwest corner of the fenced-in area.

[TSOM-Announce] Farewell Practilonga this Monday 27 June

Hello Friends,

The Desperados have been very fortunate to enjoy your
excellent company and the company of many wonderful people
over the last several years. Each of you add interest and
vitality to our Monday night escape. Well this Monday, we
will change our plan a little to say goodbye to one of our
favorite members, as he launches into a new life in
California. Our very excellent friend, Kori Mortinson,
will be dancing his last practica as a local. Please come
out and share an evening with us to acknowledge his warm
and generous friendship, and take a few moments to wish
him the best in his new adventures. And speaking of
generous, Kori has volunteered to DJ the evening... and
has refused our efforts to compensate him, as is our
practice. Therefore, the will be no extra charge. Drop
ins will be just $5 and Desperados "in good standing"
(sounds funny for a bunch of tango outlaws)... Anyway,
Desperados in good standing have already paid for their
evening.

We will hold the Practilonga from 7:30 until 10:30.

With the Pride Celebration this Thursday there'll be little or no parking near the studio, the 4th of July holiday travel the following weekend and the beautiful short summers we have here in MN I will hold off doing classes till this fall, Enjoy the summer everyone :)

This year Argentina celebrates 200 years of independence from Spanish rule!

TSoM and Bataclan Tango are holding the first Argentine Mini-Festival in the Twin Cities and want to invite the community to join in.  There will be plenty of music and dancing, FREE TANGO lessons, traditional Argentine dances and more!

[TSOM-Announce] Bob Barnes' Tango Trio at Loring Pasta Bar on Sunday

Greetings!

On Sunday I will be playing Tangos for dancers at the Loring Pasta Bar with my Tango Trio: Greg Bryers on Bass, Amy Tobin on Violin and myself on Bandoneon.  We will be playing a mix of golden age tangos/vals/milongas with some danceable Piazzolla (including his "4 Seasons of Buenos Aires"!) We're playing 3 sets between 6 and 9. I will be DJing with tandas and cortinas after each of our sets

​ and until 10.​
