Paulino Brener & Bataclan Tango (the crew of milonga Mala Yunta) invite you to enjoy your favorite music, friends & snacks at this amazing place in St. Anthony Main: "A-Mill Artists Lofts, Performance Hall", a venue with stunning views of downtown Minneapolis.  Join us to explore a traditional milonga, a new venue and a chacarera class!

Chacarera is fun and it's danced in many milongas around the world, including Mala Yunta (Minneapolis).  Do you see us having fun and would like to give it a try???

NOTE: did you notice that the name of this milonga is "Milonga a mil" and NOT "Milonga a Mill"?  It's not a typo.  We are playing with those words. "a mil" in Spanish is a way of saying that you are very busy, that you have a lot of things going on at the same time, or that something is very fast.  Literally it means "a thousand" so it would be like saying that you are living at 1000km/hour.  We may use it in phrases such as:

1- No te llame porque estuve a mil con el trabajo (I didn't call you because I was very busy with work)

2- Venia manejando a mil! (He or she was driving extremely fast!)... please don't do it when coming to the milonga...

[TSOM-Announce] Desperados time change 26 March

Dear tango friends,

Our regular Monday practica will have a time change on the 26 of March. On this day only, we will start at 6:30 and end at 9:00 sharp. Yes, sharp.. very unusual for us!  The Eagles have a special event that evening and we must accommodate our hosts.   The following week we will resume our usual leisurely pace of enjoyment and departure. (Officially 9:30 but almost always 10ish!)

 

We realize this is early, but we want to ensure everyone has several chances to hear this before the day.

Feb 17th, 5:30: Are you passionate about tango? Are you bringing that passion with you, and sharing it totally with your partner during the dance? Are you using your connection with your partner and the music to create the most magical moments? Do you want more? I learned early on in my tango career that tango was not just another dance. It is a shared feeling, a soul-to-soul connection, a union with the music and our partner. Yet so often we teach this as just a dance, taking lessons on how to do another "move". We'll learn moves, but travel beyond that, using that move to learn how to give ourselves fully to the dance, for only in that way will we truly be able to reach the soaring heights that tango promises us we can have.  Tango allows us, more than any other dance, to truly use each other to create a bigger whole. Some of the most fascinating elements, the most beautiful embellishments, the most compelling motions in tango can only happen when we discover the technique behind this. Come and find out what I am talking about! 2/27/18, 5:30, 3142  1st Ave S, Mpls, 55408 I just gave this workshop in Puerto Vallarta, and here is a review:  "more compliments just keep rolling in about you here in PV. Tonight  the teacher started the lesson with " As Lois emphasized in her great workshop...." , and several other students told me how the teachers praised your teaching and professionalism and have been incorporating some of what you taught into their current lessons. Anyhow, just wanted you to know that your work was admired and appreciated here!" Wine is included. Afterwards you are welcome to stay and dance, converse, connect and explore some more. The music will be on, and the wine will be open! Classes this Month: It is Milonga Month! This is a great dance, and is too often neglected in classes. There is a difference, and learning it will improve your tango! We'll also explore vals this month. Private Lessons:  Cement what you are learning in class so that you get it - and KEEP it. Call me to arrange. Tuesday Party: Every Tuesday at 9, after the lessons. It's perfect - after working so hard at a lesson, you get to hang out with your fellow students, have something to eat and drink, try out what you learned and meet others from the tango community.  We really have a lot of fun! Tango Boutique! Clothes, shoes and accessories for the dancer.  Clothes that fit, stay on, have color, flow beautifully, with real style.  And great prices! Shoes from $40 to $150, including some great values in preowned.  All clothes under $100. Come and shop during parties and get an unbiased opinion from seasoned tango dancers. :) Buenos Aires! Time to plan for 2018~ if you want to go on my tour! The next trip will be in November to December. Pick the dates that work for you and let me know so I can arrange housing. I'll need to know for sure, with a deposit, by the first of August. Limited space is available, so that I can give you the attention you deserve. I am offering a special couples class for Valentine's Day! If you know anyone who has never tried a dance class before, please let them know about this fun and easy hour of dancing in our studio that night at 6pm! This may include your partner, husband, or wife, who's a little shy about joining you on the dance floor.
