[TSOM-Announce] ROGUE TANGO Update!

THREE things:

Saturday, August 4th Rogue Tango is performing at the annual Garden Milonga in Rochester, MN, at the home of Ursula and Stefon Mayr. The address is 5825 Glencroft Lane, Rochester 55902. It is always a fabulous event and well worth the drive. Everyone is invited! The band plays from 4 until 7 pm this year.

Sunday, August 5th, Rogue Tango plays the Sunday evening milonga at the EAGLES #34, 2507 East 25th Street in Minneapolis. We play from 7 until 10pm. There is a large wood dance floor, free parking(!), good food and drinks, even door prizes. Net proceeds go to charity (Passport to Live). $10 admission. We like to do an event at the Eagles once a month, or so, and we are grateful for the venue and for your support. August 12th we're back at the Loring.

Lastly, we know some of you humorously refer to us as the "Flamenco Band"----due to the fact that Mateo has spent many years studying in Spain and is quite expert in that form. Well, Mateo has assembled a 6 person ensemble that will perform on Friday, August 10th, at the Riverview Restaurant and Wine Bar (3753 42nd Ave South, Mpls 55406). He's calling it ROGUE FLAMENCO and it features 3 dancers, singer, guitar and percussion. A suggested $10 donation entitles you to a guaranteed fun evening of Spanish Flamenco!

This Wednesday evening August 1st On the menu we will have a refreshing refresher course in our beginner series @ 6.30 with Susan, Morgan, Megan, and Avery! At 7.30 the all level class - spicy red peppers and slivers of onion to make the kebab looking fancy - MORE MILONGA!!!! Avery and Megan will keep you on your toes! The 8.30 Intermediate and Advanced class will add a very special flavor to the Tango BBQ - not sure if you have ever ever tried those grilled tarantulas??? Gretchen Larson will enlighten you as your tango facilitator! No need to be afraid, just adventurous! Morgan will co-facilitate this evening as well!! Dancing outside is the best! Classes this Week: This week is the end of the month of July, so we have one more day of tango on Tuesday, and then by Thursday on we will be starting Milonga (and vals) Month. Milonga Month is a great time to start tango, so if you have some friends who have been wanting to try, get them here in August. Of course, everyone's tango dancing benefits greatly from more skill in milonga, so try not to miss any classes. Besides, it's so fun!! Private Lessons:  I had a guy take a private this week. He had never taken a private before, and only took this because he got it as a gift. He was amazed at how much he learned! And it was true: He got to go at his own pace, and get lots of technique that was applicable just to him. His dancing improved immensely. Now I know that we're all trying to save, and lots of events in tango can be pricey. Plus, many other dances can be learned without any private instruction. But an hour with a good "tango diagnostician" can keep you from wasting a lot of time and money on group lessons that teach you a new move but not how to lead it. Or, worse yet, trying to copy videos!  😱There is always a way to afford quality private instruction. Talk to me to see if we can figure it out! Tuesday Milonga: Always a fun time, and we love those birthday celebrations! We host another one this week. There will be cake, and dancing, and food and wine and conversation. We have so much fun!! Tuesday milonga is at 9:00 every Tuesday, after the lessons. Musings: I am now celebrating my 20th year dancing Argentine tango. They say that it takes 6 months to learn to dance tango, but it takes 20 years to learn how to walk. I may be there! What that really means of course, is that it is the simplest things that can be the most difficult. A beautiful tango walk is a joy, and it is often overlooked in favor of the next boleo, secada, or gancho. Those can all be faked, (with a complicit follower) but an elegant, beautiful walk cannot be. Also, until you get the walk and other basic technique right, the rest of those fancy moves will never work quite right. I can be a little tough on people, to encourage them to not settle until they master good technique, but it is so worth it.  Don't give up, though! Those 20 years flew right by.... Tango Boutique! Clothes, shoes and accessories for the dancer.  Clothes that fit, stay on, have color, flow beautifully, with real style.  And great prices! Shoes from $40 to $150, including some great values in preowned.  All clothes under $100. Come and shop during parties and get an unbiased opinion from seasoned tango dancers. :) Buenos Aires! Time to plan for 2018 if you want to go on my tour! The 2018 trip will be in November to December. Pick the dates that work for you and let me know so I can arrange housing. I'll need to know for sure, with a deposit, by the end of July 2018. Limited space is available, so that I can give you the attention you deserve. We have so much fun! Sunday from 3-5 pm $5.00 What is be happening in September?  LOTS of new and exciting things    and no snow we hope...... Guille and I will be teaching these classes while he is here.   The schedule will change up a bit ! A new beginner class will be offered from 6:30 to 7:30  All level/intermediate class from 7:30 to 8:30  Tango Body Class from 8:30 to 9pm.   Guille's will be teaching some special interest classes...     Followers that lead - a series of 4   Men's class  - a series of 4   & a weekend seminar for couples  ( P.S.
