| | | Classes this Week: This week in the Tuesday beginning lesson, we are firming up our skill with crosadas. We will look at why crosses are missed, and what we can do to guarantee a solid, comfortable cross. In Tuesday intermediate, we'll look at some new ways to get into the cross, and play with loosening the follower's leg to be more effective in leading and following them. Thursday classes start with a review, then Follower's Technique, where we work our bodies to get them where we want them to be to be better followers. Learning moves doesn't help (that would be easy!) - followers have to hold their bodies the right way in order to follow well. We will also review, and work on our ochos. In Advanced, we're working on some difficult elements, that need to be done just right! All attendees must be vaccinated against COVID. Proof required.
Private Lessons: If you have been vaccinated, it's time to take some privates. Essential if you intend on dancing with another person successfully. "I'm just a social dancer" does not excuse you from this important part of your learning! Private lessons may seem expensive, but you'll get a lot for your money.
Tuesday Milonga: A milonga for those who have been vaccinated. The theme this week - Fourth of July Independence Day! Show your red, white and blue, maybe some stars and stripes, bring Fourth of July food, wear your flag hat or at least have some stars in your eyes. We will be celebrating two birthdays as well! There will be cake and birthday dances. We have had great attendance lately, you should try it. Come and join us! Starts at 8:30. All attendees must be vaccinated against COVID. Proof required. (Get ready: July 6th theme will be Oldest Thing in your Closet, July 13 will be Cowboys, Gauchos and the Wild West.)
Milongas this weekend: Saturday: Milonga en el Alma July 3, 9pm 12am Four Seasons Dance Studio, 1637 Hennepin Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55403, USA (map) A night of Argentine Tango at Four Seasons Dance Studio. Dance to the classic tangos of the Golden Age. Light snacks and wine are available. Please feel free to BYOB. All attendees must be vaccinated against COVID. Proof required.
Sunday July 4th: TAPESTRY BALLROOM VARIETY DANCE, in the LARGE STUDIO. A birthday dance for our country! Red, white, and blue encouraged.

Upcoming! Friday July 9th is Nueve de Julio, Argentine Independence Day. We are having a party to welcome our new bandoneon player, Charles Gorczynski youtube.com/watch. Charles is a professional bandoneonist and saxophonist. His bands Redwood Tango Ensemble and Colorlist have performed widely in North America and Europe. We are going to have a get-together to welcome him and get to know him. 7:30PM at Dance with Loisa studio, 3142 1st Ave S.

I just got the most wonderful message from someone about the great experience they had at the lessons, and then staying for the party. In the message, you can hear the enthusiasm and excitement that they are feeling - first, there was an "Aha!" moment during the class when things clicked (we've all been there) and then how much fun it was talking and joking around with people during the party. I saw them that night, as they were laughing, and that is of course contagious. They used words like "wonderful" "hilarious" "accepting" "a riot" "awesome". I've often had that feeling after leaving a tango dance, so it was great to hear it from someone fairly new. We haven't gotten to experience that feeling in 15 months.
