Classes this Week:  Tuesday Class this Week: We are holding a real in person class for those who are vaccinated. The time is 7:00PM on Tuesday March 30, and it's going to be a lot of review - getting us back on track in our tango. Especially useful for those who think they've forgotten everything. Also, we all need to be working on fixing those bad habits that may have crept back into our dance.
We will also have the video going, so you can join in virtually. Here is the link: To join the video meeting, meet.google.com/svk-wxah-ykg
Otherwise, to join by phone, dial +1 402-588-0112 and enter this PIN: 433 594 675#

Private Lessons:  Yes, we can have a socially distanced lesson here if you bring your own partner. If you have been vaccinated, we can have a lesson together. Treat yourself to an hour of solid great tango dancing and getting you to your best skill level!! Or we can do a video lesson - it works great!

Tuesday Milonga, March 30 8:00: We can join here for a milonga for those who have been fully vaccinated - more get to join us every week! We had a wonderful time last week March 23, and are looking forward to doing it again!  Come and join us! Last week even the vaccinated mostly wore masks, so keep that in mind. Or you can join us virtually. I'll have the computer on. To join the video meeting, click here   meet.google.com/svk-wxah-ykg
We'll try another outdoor milonga soon. Watch for good weather! Actual food, drink and seeing each other in person!

Musings: This has been such a scary year. I've been very worried about so many things. But I'll share with you a concern I've been having. Will people forget tango? Will they forget how much fun it is? How a social life can be built around the friends one makes in the tango community? About the brain health, body health, psychological and emotional health benefits of tango? Will the infrastructure that supports tango, like orchestras, event halls, ballrooms, teachers, bars, restaurants, banquet halls, night clubs, etc, be able to sustain and come back? Of course I'm not the only one who is concerned, and there has been quite a bit of conversation on this topic. So I think all of us need to redouble our recruitment efforts.  But this time, not just people who haven't tangoed before, but people who we haven't seen in a year or more. Invite them back. And most importantly, go to events and classes. I've heard of people looking in the door of an event, and if there weren't enough people they would leave. Don't leave. Be one of the people so the next people who look in the door see the fun. When my mom and dad returned from a night on the town, I'd ask my mother "Did you have fun?" She would answer "Fun is what you make it." That is so true. Be the light. Be the fun. And let's come back to a community that is better than ever.

Tuesday Class this Week: Yes, we will have a real in person class for those who are vaccinated. The time is 7:00PM on Tuesday, and it's going to be getting into a lot of  technical aspects.
We will also have the video going, so you can join in virtually. Here is the link: To join the video meeting, meet.google.com/svk-wxah-ykg

Tuesday Milonga: Since I have been fully vaccinated, we can join here at the studio for a milonga with others who have also been vaccinated. We will start March 23 at 8:00 after the lesson. Come and join us, and celebrate your vaccination! Or you can join us virtually. To join the video meeting, grab your favorite beverage and click this link:

Private Lessons:  We can have a socially distanced lesson here if you bring your own partner. If you have been vaccinated, we can have a lesson together. Or we can do a video lesson - it works great!

We'll try another garage milonga soon. Watch and hope for good weather! Actual food, drink and seeing each other in person! Let's do it!

Musings:  I've talked to a few tango students who have been worrying that their tango skills have deteriorated to such an extent that they don't know if they have the courage to come back to the dance floor. Of course, I tell them that it's just plain silly to think like that, tango is supposed to be fun, you know, a couple of technical errors will gladly be forgiven by any partner (who is also likely worried about skills decline), you'll be surprised how it all comes back, and tango is so worth it, etc... But on the other hand, thinking like this is actually so much better than its opposite - and I think you know this person. They think they're great, they know 328 moves, everyone watches them as they dance. They don't need any more lessons, but their partners seem to as they are always needing to teach them the move that they just did wrong.  So go ahead and have a little humility. It's charming, and to quote the great Walt Disney: "Always deliver more than expected".

Next Week 23rd: Tuesday Class and Milonga: From the CDC:  "Indoor visits between fully vaccinated people who do not wear masks or physically distance from one another are likely low risk. For example, if you are fully vaccinated, it is likely a low risk for you to invite other fully vaccinated friends to dinner inside your private residence."  Since I have been vaccinated, we can join here for a tango lesson and milonga for those who have been vaccinated. We will start March 23 with just an intermediate lesson at 7:00, and milonga at 8:00. Earlier, because many of you have adjusted your sleep schedule, I hear.😊  Come and join us! Or you can join us virtually. I'll have the computer on.
We'll try another Outdoor lesson/milonga soon. Watch for good weather! Actual food, drink and seeing each other. Let's do it!

Private Lessons:  Good news! Yes, we can have a covid-safe lesson here if you bring your own partner. If you have been vaccinated, we can have a lesson together. Of course, we can always do a video lesson - it works great! Call me to schedule.

Musings: One year! It's been one year since we've had to shut down, and there has been no lack of reminiscences about where we were, what we were thinking, and about our last milonga, our last dance, our last hug. Is the end in sight? It is still too early to know, but at least I want to get back to where we were last summer, with outdoor parties and dances. Until then, those lucky enough to have been vaccinated can gather without masks, and although I feel a little guilty being one of those lucky ones, I remember that the usual way of this world is that advantage falls to the young. So I will embrace my age, and gladly embrace all the other older folks who have taken advantage of their privileged older status.
