This coming Sunday---September 3rd---Rogue Tango will be playing a double milonga as we ease into Labor Day.

We begin at the (new!) Loring Bar and Pharmacy:  same place, 321 14th Ave SE in Dinkytown.  New name, now employee owned and definitely deserving of our support.  We'll play from 6 till 8 pm---then---we'll shift over to the Eagles' Club in the Seward neighborhood (2507 E 25th St) and start the music at 9 as we'll play till midnight.

So this week, we will look at all the really fun things you can do in vals, and why it is so often the leader's favorite dance. This class may surprise some people who thought they were doing vals just fine. Have you been dancing tango for 1 year or even 5 years, and still don't know the difference between how you dance a tango and a vals? No wonder you think you spend time to learn another move! Even after years of training and classes, this class can bring breakthroughs in understanding. Thursday lesson is cancelled, we'll see you at Victor's in Excelsior! Tuesday Milonga: A special night, as Warren AND our snowbirds will be back in town to join us (and also at Victor's). Plus we have a birthday to celebrate, so there will be some excellent food and special dances. Join us after the lessons at 9:00 PM. Thursday at Victor's Lounge: another fun night of Argentine dancing!. The evening starts with a 7:30 pm lesson, after which everyone will dance at 8:00 to 10:30. Come to learn, come to dance, or come just to eat, drink and enjoy. Tango is a fun way to meet new people, and exciting to try or to watch. There has been a nice number of new people who have attended these nights, so come meet someone new. Enjoy a unique evening at The Lounge at Victor's. Come with a partner or come alone. You will meet people at the lesson to dance with. Wine and cocktails along with a limited menu will be available. 205 Water St, Excelsior, MN 55331 Cover charge is $5.00 Upcoming: We will be visited by more Musicians from Buenos Aires the last week of September! Eduardo Tami has contacted me and told me that he has been invited to play at universities in Duluth, Marshall, and Anoka. More details are on the way! Musings: This Sunday was so hectic - a late morning after a long day performing at the State Fair, a couple of privates, and then a call for a late "emergency lesson" because of the availability of a babysitter. This one didn't start until 7, which meant leaving after 8 to go to the Loring for Sunday night dancing. Really I wanted to just stay home, but I had to meet someone, so I found some extra energy and went. Once there, as I was sharing a vals on the dancefloor in that beautiful setting, I realized - this is my happy place. It was so nice to be among all my friends, sharing a nice dance, a great conversation, a couple of jokes. smiles, hugs .... what was I thinking, considering staying home and staring at some stupid screen, or catching up on my sleep or chores, when I could be out having fun? So many people don't have that luxury. They don't have a place where they can go, and all their friends are there ready to help them forget their troubles and have a good time. No more excuses. There couldn't be better therapy than social dance. Tango Boutique! Clothes, shoes and accessories for the dancer.  Clothes that fit, stay on, have color, flow beautifully, with real style.  And great prices! Shoes from $40 to $150, including some great values in preowned.  All clothes under $100. Come and shop during parties and get an unbiased opinion from seasoned tango dancers. :) Buenos Aires! Time to plan for 2018~ if you want to go on my tour! The next trip will be in November to December. Pick the dates that work for you and let me know so I can arrange housing. I'll need to know for sure, with a deposit, by the first of August. Limited space is available, so that I can give you the attention you deserve. [TSOM-Announce] Join us for the fall UTango semester!

Hello! As the new president of the UTango club, I am happy to invite you to be a part of the UTango club this fall! We are looking forward to a great semester with a new space, new leadership, and a new teacher – the incredible Miriam Ziven.

Please join us for classes on Tuesdays, with a short practica and a social hour to follow.

The first class will be on September 12th.

All classes will be held in Peik Gym, on University Avenue.

[TSOM-Announce] Argentine Tango dancing at the State Fair Saturday, August 26th 6:30

It will soon to time to "get together" at the State Fair!  We will be dancing again this year on the same stage area we have in the past (the outside stage between the Education and Creative Activities buildings)  -- but on a "new stage!" .  It has been updated and renamed the "Cosgrove Stage," named after Cosgrove Street which runs in front of the Education building.

Free tickets are available on a first come, first serve basis. 

If you do not want to dance, you can still help! We need people to answer questions, hand out literature, keep the literature table full and not blowing away, DJ's, etc.

We would like to look more coordinated with clothing, as we did last year, and suggestions are welcome. Black and white? Red? 

Remember the stage is higher and people are looking up at us, you may choose to wear pants/skirts/shorts that come to the knee or below.😁

We do have a room in the Education Building (2nd floor) where we can change clothing and store clothes, shoes, etc. while we are dancing.  The room is not locked so do not leave valuables there.  Ladies, you can leave your purse by the stage while we are dancing.

If it doesn't work for you to sign up -- and you just happen to be at the fair on your own on a day when we are dancing, you are welcome to join us.

It's a fun time at the fair -- and a good opportunity to acquaint others with the Tango Society of Minnesota and Argentine tango!

Turns are essential  in tango, and there are so many ways that we can make them work better. The second workshop will be on Playing with pauses and pace, what he calls "Bridges and Spans". This is the time for adornments and to put some beautiful interest in your dance for the follower.   First workshop 2:00 pm to 3:30 Second workshop at 4:00 pm to 5:30  Both held at 3142 2st Ave S, Minneapolis 55408 $25 each class Georg has been getting some great reviews of his lessons here.
