[TSOM-Announce] Jay Abling back in Minneapolis!!

Hi Tangueras and Tangueros of Minneapolis,

I have exciting news to share: Jay Abling will be visiting us for the month of August!

We have classes, practica and great milongas planned.

Thursday Night Classes at Four Seasons Dance Studio

Each week will build into the next as the subjects become more complex. In addition, the 7pm 'Leaders Technique' builds into the 8pm 'Key to Tango Movement' class. The 'Leaders Technique' is only open to leaders, however the 'Keys to Tango Movement' is designed for both followers and leaders.

All of these classes are open to all-levels of dancers.

Aug. 6th - Walking to Rebotes

Aug. 20th - Pivoting to Forward Boleos

Aug. 27th - Turning to Interconnected Sacadas

7pm - Leader's Technique
Learn Jay's techniques to create an irresistible lead. This class is devoted to developing successful leaders. Jay will be focusing on teaching the fundamental elements of Argentine tango from an advanced perspective.
Each class will focus on one element and apply the new knowledge to a more complex movement (which we will cover at 8 pm).

8pm - Key to Tango Movement

Followers and leaders will discover the simple keys to complex movements.

Jay will be focusing on teaching the fundamental elements of Argentine tango from an advanced perspective. 

We will work on taking basic techniques (timing, connection and dynamics) up to advanced level of execution and precision.

9pm - Practica

We have added a practica so we can follow up on class concepts and over-arching ideas. Everyone is welcome to attend (whether you attended class or not).

The food here is incredible, and they have a lovely wood floor. Full bar. Free parking in the parking lot or on the street. $5 Come early for dinner, stay for tango.

Abandonada Tango Orchestra live at the Loring Pasta Bar. 3 sets of live tango music from 6 to 9 followed by recorded classics until 10:00 or so. No cover charge.

Jay is available for private lessons August 5-10 and 21-31.

We are pleased to announce that Jay Abling will be teaching a special series of classes in Minneapolis at Four Seasons Dance Studio! Thank you to Ron Johnson for inviting Jay to teach this special series. 

See TSoM Calendar on listed dates for specific class topics while Jay is in town. 

All-levels are welcome to attend these classes. $15 for one class $20 for both and guided practica is free with class, $5 if you did not attend class.

[TSOM-Announce] Milonga en el Alma this Saturday, August 1

It's been a while, but it's back. Great music and dancing. Lots of snacks. All of your tango friends. Sprung wood floor and air conditioning. Cheap wine in tiny paper cups.

That's right, time again for Milonga en el Alma!!!

Join me Saturday night, August 1, in downtown Minneapolis for a night of Argentine Tango at Four Seasons Dance Studio. Relax in an inviting, bohemian atmosphere and dance to the classic tangos of the Golden Age. Although there is no lesson beforehand, beginners are welcome.

Light snacks, wine and soft drinks are available. Feel free to BYOB.

[TSOM-Announce] Tango DJ Workshop with DJ Charrua at Four Seasons

Rodrigo DJ Charrúa Saraibe, originally from Uruguay, and currently living in Chicago, is visiting Minneapolis this weekend.  He will be DJing Mala Yunta milonga on Friday, July 31st at Faces Mears Park and will be teaching a workshop for Tango DJs on Sat, Aug 1st. 
Rodrigo studied sound and light engineering at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) in Argentina. He has been working as a sound engineer, DJ, and stage manager since 1995, and has been DJ in some of the most prominent Tango Milongas, Festivals & Marathons in the US, including Chicago, Miami, Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco, NYC and many more, including Mala Yunta in Minneapolis!!

This workshop is oriented to anyone that is interested in learning to be a tango DJ or to the experienced DJ looking for extending his/her possibilities.

[TSOM-Announce] Milonga Mala Yunta at Faces Mears Park - St. Paul

Hola tangueros,

This 5th Friday, Milonga Mala Yunta goes to Faces Mears Park, in St. Paul, with DJ Charrua, a native of Uruguay living in Chicago.

Faces is a very nice restaurant, wine bar, pizza kitchen and bakery.  Located right in front of the beautiful Mears Park, with indoor and outdoor seating, and a wonderful cuisine.  Joins us this Friday (July 31st) to listen and dance Argentine Tango, enjoy good food, appetizers, drinks.

NOTE: There is no coverage for the milonga, but we ask you to donate what you can to help us pay the DJ!!
Milonga is from 9:30pm-1am

Faces offers this Tango Special:

[TSOM-Announce] August milonga clarification

It has been brought to my attention that my original message about the Second Saturday Milonga on August 8th is confusing. Some people are reading it as August 2nd milonga. I agree that it is poorly worded.

Scott also tells me that parking under I94 may not be available due to construction but the Metro State ramp next to the Basilica should be open.

Here is the REVISED announcement. I am sorry about the confusion.
