So many spirits,

So little time!!

It’s the season to conjure, and that’s exactly what we’ll be doing at Desperados this week.  Three Spirits will manifest for us!

 

The spirit of Troilo

The spirit of Pugliese

The spirit of fun!  (a regular attendee!)

 

This Monday, our fabulous DJ and historical medium, Paul Lohman, will continue his musical exposition on the big four orchestras of the Golden Age. Obviously we disapperated DiSarli and D’Arienzo a few weeks back. Their atoms are still scattered.  But we have Troilo and Pugliese (Oooooh!) to visit with.

 

DJ Pablo will bring these maestros and their musical significance to life for us. We’ll dance some special tandas with them, and gain some insights along the way. No flesh eating zombies will be harmed in the making of this evening.

 

The presentation and guided dance will start near 8ish. We typically go about 40minutes. Then well carry on with our tradition of sharing the best dance with the best people.

 

Yeah, you guys.

[TSOM-Announce] Friday - Milonga Mala Yunta

Queridos tangueros, this Friday is time for Mala Yunta and as usual in our October milonga, we celebrate el "Dia de los Muertos".

Get your skeleton ready to do cabeceo (just don't loose your head!), dance tango, chacarera and "fin de fiesta" at this traditional Argentine Milonga.

Dress up appropriately if you wish or just as your regular human being!

[TSOM-Announce] LAST WEDNESDAY NIGHT CLASS WITH GUILLE AND DIANA

YES, sad but true, the international known tango dancer and teacher Guillermo Cerneaz will be heading back to Argentina on Monday.  This is the last Wednesday night class that we will be teaching together!  

Classes are at 6:30 beginner class, 7:30 intermediate class and 8:30 for 30 minutes the tango body class.

On Sunday10/28/18  Guillermo will teach his drills and technique class.  Guillermo is known for his precise technique and ability to create dynamics in his dance.  How did he get there???  Come to the workshop on Sunday and find out.  Afterwards we will have a potluck to send him on his merry way....   IF you have a Guille quote you would like to share PLEASE bring it. 

Time 3-5pm with the potluck to follow.  

Cost $35.00, and bring something to share at the potluck.  We will have a sign up sheet so we have no duplicates!  

All activities are at the Historic Triune Masonic Temple in St Paul. 

Don't miss the opportunity ....  we are trying to negotiate his return next year but is seems that Europe is calling him !!!

And most important, we hope that Maxi's classes full of practical social dance teachings will start making a difference for you on the dance floor! many people deserve a special mention for all their unsolicited (well, lightly coerced) and unselfish help in this event: Marisa Riviere for her admirably enthusiastic participation, and motherly pampering while we abused her home and refrigerator; Tamara DeMarco and Andres Gross for their kind participation and help in many ways. It takes a village....In this case our Tango village to grow more awesome tango dancers!  Help by promoting, and help by being there for the beginners

We want you to be a new recruit! Your friends that you are inviting? They will be so very happy to see a familiar face when they arrive at bootcamp!!!   Looking for tango buddies to help out at the Queer tango Bootcamp coming up in November! You too can help grow our tango community! Become a peer to peer tango buddy!   At Queer Tango Bootcamp all the new beginner students will be paired up with a tango dancer: YOU!!  Guided by experienced teachers and tango facilitators,  you will acquire the tools that you will need to help a beginner student have fun while learning to dance the tango! You will have to attend one learning session and 2 practicas, where you will practice with other peer tango dancers (buddies) guided by our tango facilitators. And then, obviously, the Bootcamp itself. You can choose between 2 sessions: A- Thursday October 25 at 7pm ( at Tango & I studio, Pleasant Ave) or B- Thursday November 1 ( at Tango & I studio, Pleasant Ave) Practica - Saturday October 27, 11am till 2 ( at Flying Pig Studio) Saturday     November 3, 11am till 2 ( at Flying Pig Studio) Bootcamp - Saturday November 10 10am till 2pm You also have the option to join the beginner classes for free, where you can work at your hearts content on either leader or follower role, and ask questions. YES,  you too will get to wear these incredibly stylish "will gancho for hugs" t-shirt IF you have been dancing tango for over 6 months YOU can apply!!
