[TSOM-Announce] Denver Tango Omlette this Monday

Dear Tango Friends,

This Monday we will offer you chance to show off your Denver delicacies or home-grown tango ingredients.  Let’s take a few minutes in the practica to show off what we’ve recently acquired in workshops, or have been carefully polishing in our dance hideaways.

As usual, there will be prizes for those brave enough to share, and of course the accolades of your friends.

Bring your best , your favourite, your most outlandish, and most delightful tango moves, but mostly bring yourselves and have fun.

Wishing you all the best in dancing and in life,

Scott, Michael, and your friends at Desperados

Ps. Scott and I want to thank the many Desperados who have enthusiastically volunteered to help the TangoCurious find their true paths.  Your generosity is very heartening to us indeed!!

Orange is a must

Did you know that Sabine is a Dutch citizen? And that they celebrate the Kings birthday every year in the Netherlands? And that the Dutch King, Willem-Alexander, is married to an Argentine Woman; Maxima? And that the color orange is symbolic for the Netherlands , or Holland, because of Willem of Oranje ( 1533-1584)? And that Kings day (Konings dag) is this Wednesday April 27!

This Wednesday evening in the classes Sabine will treat you royally: orange goodies and colorful tango lessons!

What will we be doing in class? info by clicking right here!

We need your help to spreading the word about Tango Bootcamp this upcoming weekend. You want to dance with more people? You want to better yourself? You want to change roles? Then SHARE this with your friends, neighbors, co-workers, loved ones, family members!  We would love to see everybody there!

Saturday Winery Tango!   Woodland Hill Winery, 731 County Road 30 SE in Delano is having an afternoon of Tango Music, tango lessons and a performance of Argentine Tango. People from our tango community will be there, plus you'll meet new people at this beautiful estate, called Minnesota's Most Beautiful Winery.  3 to 6PM

Upcoming:  Susana Miller week May 12 to 19! All new classes! Susana has put more great dancers on the floors of Buenos Aires than any other teacher. She is legendary. Get more information on the website. mndance.com/SusanaMillerworkshop  Get in on the discounts - get your money in before May 1st.

Classes: Yes, we are working on volcadas! Not really so hard, once you get the essence and the importance of the shared axis. You can do so much when you understand this fundamental tango concept! Saturday 10:00AM is still a beginning class, even though the students are getting quite good.  Thursday 7:30 class:  Here is where we get intensive, and you get lots of personal attention. A follower I danced with asked me "Can you just teach all the men to dance like you?" My secret? It's not the moves you know, but the way you do them. We work on common move, but made it so fun!  Come to class and let me show you.  Remember that all my classes are in close embrace, starting right from the beginning, because that is how tango is danced. We don't teach an open embrace - that may lead you into bad habits that have to be corrected. You'll just have to start over when you move to close embrace, and open embrace can easily be learned later, once you understand close. The best results come from learning tango in close embrace, right away. The proof is in the great dancers that have started with me this way! Curious about close embrace? Come and try it!
Private lessons? The only way to get at the specific problems and fix them. Call to schedule.

Tuesday Party: Tuesday Party is heating up!  We often welcome new people, and out of town visitors. Come and play with us!

Musings: Buenos Aires milongas often have a tanda of "Rock and Roll". I remember that back about 10 years ago, the music that they would play for this set was not exactly what a North American would find acceptable for a swing dance. They would play things like the Beatles "She Loves You (yeah yeah yeah)", or "Karma chameleon". We would get a kick out of this - so superior were we in our knowledge of swing music. Since then, the Buenos Aires DJ's have gotten much better at selecting good, danceable swing songs. And, of course, our tango musicality has improved markedly. It is still a challenge, this tango music so unfamiliar to us (with the exception of my Argentine students!). But interpreting the music is what tango is about. That's why, in every class, we make sure everything we learn fits the floor, and we find the best place to use it within the music. Make sure you take care to do that, too!
