[TSOM-Announce] TSOM Election Night Recap

Sent on behalf of Jennifer Sellers, and Bill Boyt.

A look back on our January milonga

Wasn't that fun!  We had an evening without subzero temperatures, wind, or snow. To make it even better, we created an evening of tango heat at our Member Appreciation Milonga on Jan. 11.

The "new venue" DanceLife Ballroom brought back memories of great milongas held there a decade ago.  I hope you enjoyed the floor, lighting, sound system, and size as much as we did. When the TSoM board first started moving the monthly milonga to different locations, it was scary and a lot of work. Thanks for sticking with us and thanks for the support to keep trying new locations. We have certainly found some nice places to dance and learned what are the essential features for a great venue.

Those of you who came early for the lesson got a special treat, as both Rebecca and Bruce Abas shared the fun of foot play. Paul Lohman brought out the best in the sound system as he played his special mix.  I always enjoy the way he sets the stage for those special "tango moments." Julia Robinson created a delicious and inviting table of fruits and other treats, with the assistance of Connie Stack. It was an invitation to burn off calories with a special tanda.

Many thanks for Marge Jerdee for pulling together the charts showing our finances, preparing the cash box, writing the checks and the other critical duties she performs as our Treasurer.  Much of what we do looks so smooth because Marge is paddling like crazy in the background. Scott Chase once again did a masterful job as gatekeeper — this time with the added duties of passing out the ballots for the 2014 Board elections.  It is close to unbelievable that Scott volunteers his time as our gatekeeper month after month.

Someday ask Rueben about his efforts to arrive early and open the doors. It is a very good sign when our president-elect arrives two hours early to bring the key. It is also a story that will live be retold over a good glass of malbec for many years to come.

A special congratulations to our new board members:

Rueben Hansen, president
Scott Chase, vice president

Members at Large:
Tamara Demarco
Yevgeniya Sviridova

And a special thanks for an exceptional job to our retiring Board members
