Hola, Tangueros and Family and Friends!!
"Dancers with Waves" is a pot-luck, tango, picnic for tangueros to picnic, dance in the grass and paddle kayaks. This year's event is at Turtle Lake County Park, 4979 Hodgson Rd, Shoreview, 55126, on Wednesday, June 28th from 3:30 pm until dark. The beach faces west, so we'll have plenty of sun and plenty of nearby shade if you need to get out of the sun.
There's of free, convenient parking; women's and men's changing/restrooms; a large, flat, grassy area for dancing; drinking fountains; and a swimming beach.
Right next to the swimming beach and our picnic spot Dancers with Waves will supply kayaks and life vests for those who want to try paddling. This is pot-luck, so bring a dish to share and a serving spoon if needed; we'll supply plates, cups, napkins, utensils, garbage cans etc. Bring your own beverages, coolers, chairs, blankets, towels, sunscreen and bug juice. Beer and wine ARE ALLOWED at this venue.
Besides paddling and dancing, you can throw boleadoras, spin poi and perhaps spin fire. There might even be a fire spinning performance!
Jim Dunn and I will be at the park at 3:30 pm. Any available folks can show up early to help us stake out our tango territory; although, the park is rarely crowded. If weather threatens to cancel the event, call Jim at the park at 952-285-6858 and we'll let you know if we're cancelling.
