Classes: This month is milonga month! This biannual event is really popular, and I always have lot of interest in it. If you have been away from tango for awhile, this is a great time to get back in. Milonga is fun, and can be easier to start than tango, so cements your tango technique in a painless way. On Thursday in advanced, we make some of the more difficult things work.
Tuesday Party: Don't let cabin fever get you - Get out of the house and hang with your tango friends, eat, drink, talk, and dance. Every Tuesday at 9.
Friday: Feb 7th: Yes, it's true!! The space at 560 Como Ave is open again, and we are having a First Friday dance there! Blues and West Coast Swing music, most of which you can tango to (Remember my Tango to the Blues classes?). The Blues Dance scene has discovered tango, often coming to Loring Pasta bar. The tango community long ago discovered how easy it is to dance to blues/alternative music. The food is Mediterranean - kabobs, Gyros,hummus, samosas, kofta, naan, etc. The Toasted Wine liquor store is attached - buy your favorite beverage to enjoy during the dance - they have great wine and craft beers! We'll start with a lesson in Blues Dancing & Swango, 7:30pm, then dance to the best of swing and blues music spun by Twin Cities favorite Hieu Le. Cover $5 Big parking lot! Special food choices Friday night only $10! This is a special that the owners have worked out for us - please show them your appreciation for their hospitality by ordering something. It is absolutely delicious!
TSOM Saturday Milonga!: Saturday is the monthly Tango Society dance, and I am teaching the beginning lesson at 8:30. These dances are a lot of fun - and I'll be there to introduce you to people if you haven't been before. 1637 Hennepin Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55403 $10 for TSoM members, $14 for non-members student discount $7(members)/$8(non-members) Dance at 9:30
There will be tango dancing at the Outing Lodge in Stillwater, Valentine's day Friday, Feb 14th. Lovely, romantic gourmet dinner, beautiful space! Starts at 6:30
Did you know there is now tango every Thursday in the southern suburbs? Fiesta Restaurant, 14871 Granada Ave, Apple Valley, MN 55124. Great south of the border cuisine. On February 16, from 11:00-2:00 there will be a brunch with live music by Bob Barnes!
Private Lessons: In order to really learn tango, you need a mix of group and private lessons, and time at the milongas. Private lessons with an experienced teacher are invaluable to addressing your specific needs. Call me to schedule!
