We will talk about how it revolutionized social tango, making it popular and interesting to dancers worldwide. We'll see a clip of a lesson with Marcella Duran, the star of Forever Tango. Log on the same way you have before: it's easy! You can join with the video camera, or mute your mic and turn off your video and talk or lurk. Let's do it! And I think it's time for a theme. Give me an idea! Musings: So many people I know started tango after seeing show tango, and many also spend lots of time learning kicks, ganchos, boleos, and fancy moves before they learned the embrace, the walk the music, and all of the other essential things that we know is the heart of social tango. It happened to me - I had already spent lots of time learning tango, and I thought I was pretty good - until I spent a weekend in another tango community and experienced authentic tango. That's when I learned that what I was doing wasn't tango, but a stylized performance meant to impress onlookers, rather than please my partner and myself. Of course I have done, and still do, my share of stage tango, where mostly the focus was to impress an audience, or entice the audience to be intrigued enough to want to try it. But it can never be as fulfilling to me as a musical, close, partner focused, tango-moment-filled dance. Few would probably want to watch my partner and me dance this way. But that's OK, it's not for them. | | | Tango Boutique! Clothes, shoes and accessories for the dancer. Clothes that fit, stay on, have color, flow beautifully, with real style. And great prices!
