Classes this Week: We are going to have another virtual class! These are quite a bit of fun and we can really get into the important things about tango - because tango is not about learning new moves. Tango is a feeling and a connection. That's something that we need more than ever nowadays. This week's subject is how to work towards a more improvised dance. Some dances are like a rehearsed play, where both subjects know their lines. Tango is more like a real, on-the-fly conversation - where each person has to listen to each other before forming their next sentence while keeping the subject of the conversation in mind - in the case of tango, the music. We never want to dance as if we are reciting a speech to our partner - even worse, reciting that same speech even though the subject (music) has changed. How do we do that? Listen in and find out!

Musings: Love for tango was part of a very unusual scene a couple of days ago. Major point - Connection in the Moment. Here's the story

A lady has been having a tough time adjusting to staying home. She is used to dancing 3-4 x per week for years…very social lady. She's been keeping in touch with her friends, as we all are doing. She has also been keeping busy baking and asked her friend about his favorite pies.  So she makes two, plus 3 packs of cookies. (Just what we all need as we pile on the weight staying home!). Anyway…they choose to meet at a safe place, ½ way point, south end of Cabela's parking lot.
Guy drives up with tango music on his radio…vals. She was there with her home-made facemask and gloves. He had his mask on, too.
All the goodies are put in the truck and she is getting ready to go. He reaches in the truck and cranks up the tunes. A new vals blared. He stands up straight, took a deep breath, dialed in his best tango posture (yes!) and reached out to her. They maintained an open embrace in their masks, and gloves, and floated along the asphalt. One dance and the magic had happened. She fussed about wearing tennis shoes rather than - 'What?' We are dancing in the parking lot of Cabela's, connected and grateful for the magic moment. That is Tango!!
