Classes this Week: This week we are working on combining all of our elements - a crosada, an ocho, maybe a secada - all to celebrate the music and our happiness in the embrace. We have so many elements in tango, and it is a delight to combine them in exciting ways that enrich our dance. How do we do this effectively, without compromising our dance? Come and find out. Thursday night we are continuing work on secadas. Saturday is a great lesson - not only do we get a lot done in our hour and a half, but we take some time afterwards to enjoy a snack and each other's company. It is lovely!

Private Lessons:  Essential to truly realize our tango goals. We work hard, but you will accomplish a lot. Call to schedule.

Tuesday Milonga: Our theme this week is Olive! Olives are one of my favorite foods, and a big part of the Buenos Aires cuisine. So you can dress in your favorite olive outfit, and bring your favorite olive-based food. We are not fussy, even a bit of olive-oil dripped over an appetizer will be wowed over. Next week: Black Lace. Be creative! If you want to know the theme each week, be sure to sign up for my weekly email. You can also like my page on Facebook, under Dance with Lois Donnay.

Musings: "I take my lady for a walk. How do I walk? It is like walking with a lover in the park. You will walk together in harmony and balance. I don't know who adjusts to whom. All I know is that one does" We have been working a lot, as we always do, with the connection between dancers in tango. I get lots of questions about - how do I approach my partner? Who decides the embrace? How do I know what to do? It's really so simple. We adjust to each other. We ask each other in non-verbal ways what we like, what we can give, what is comfortable and nice. We know how to do this, because we have always done this. When one partner starts to dictate to another what they should do, how they should be, what they should like - that's when trouble starts. We never do this in tango. We are always asking each other with our bodies - Is this good? Are you happy? If not, it's time to move on to the next partner who will ask - and listen.
