March Tango & I classes

You are so ready for Tango classes this month! And there are plenty of great classes to dig your heels into!

All classes are held at Dance Life Ballroom

Beginner Series
Every Wednesday 6.30pm and Saturday morning 10am
We make sure that you will have a great experience dipping in your toes into Argentine Tango.   With our team there are always people that you can ask your questions, will be able to try out your new found movements. And after 8 weeks you will be able to hold your own on the tango dance floor.
Please take a close look at what you can expect : Our beginner curriculum
Our beginner series are great if you want to learn the other role as well!!!!

All Level Classes
Every Wednesday evening at 7.30

This month we will entice you with the SACADA, or, in english terms, a displacement. These handy movements are used an awful lot in tango. You will be able to add them in turns, or to change a direction. Great for on the social dance floor. And the options? You will need to come to class to find out.
Diana Devi will be teaching the class this month

Intermediate/advanced classes
Every Wednesday evening at 8.30

So, now you know the sacada, what would you like to do with it? Playful movements, how to exit gracefully, how does it feel in close versus open embrace, and where do you add them while being musical.
Diana Devi will be teaching the class this month

When in Buenos Aires, do as the Buenos Airetians do....

Writing a little something from the bustling city of Buenos Aires, right in the middle of San Telmo; the oldest neighborhood in Buenos Aires, where the cobbled streets will lead you to cute markets, cafes and street vendors. And the Argentine Tango is always just around the corner. Sure, they use the tango to entice the tourists to get a feel for something different, you can see tango shows, there are tango dancers on Plaza Dorrego who dance for money. Little figurines that you can buy in almost every store in town. But the tango is truly interwoven into the Buenos Aires lives. Most Argentinians do not dance the tango. They know it is a difficult dance to learn. But all Argentines are very familiar with the music. They might not all like it, in fact most prefer American rock & roll, but they grow up with the sound of the bandoneon and the crooning of their beloved singers.
And this is where I am sitting in the middle of. The reason that I travel here: to learn to capture the true spirit of the tango. I take classes, private lessons, go to practicas, many milongas. Every day there is something different about tango that I am able to breath in.  Can you imagine being in a city where many tango dancers ONLY dance tango? Every day, they dance? There are many high quality dancers to be found, and you will step up your dance experience in a fast and furious way. Obviously there are also the ones who are not so good. The trick is to find the person that suits you best, that you connect with. You might see a great dancer and as soon as you are in his/her arms you are not able to "feel" it at all. And the pleasant surprises; the person who, when the embrace starts, you know from an instant that you will have have the most pleasant tanda with. I only have been here for a few days, my journey is about to take of!  I will make sure to bring back great material for you to learn, a little bit of Buenos Aires brought back to Minneapolis.
