[TSOM-Announce] Sat-Nav for Tango Formations : A Teacher Taster for the tangophiles and technophobes

Hello tango friends,

It’s amazing how difficult it once was, finding your way around a strange city, compared to how easy it is now -- with your handy Sat-Nav-Google-linked-interactive-SmartMap with instantaneous rerouting for construction and traffic delays!  The boys in Silicon Valley are all pretty proud of that technology. J

But they’re a hundred years late.

As it turns out, Tango has already evolved advanced navigation methods that work in any city in the world, manage complicated traffic patterns, and allow you to travel freely with a beautiful or handsome co-pilot on board, all the while looking stylish and sophisticated.  No need for another battery-powered, computerized-status-enhancer. You have tango J

As you might have guessed, this week, the Desperadoes Practica offers you another excellent teacher taster with a fresh infusion of tango essence in the form of Ron Johnson. Ron has suggested that great movements on the dance floor make for even better navigation and the two reinforce each other. We think that sounds intriguing.

Here’s a little about Ron:

Ron is originally from St. Paul, Minnesota and began dancing in 1997. He started competing in the West Coast Swing and Country dance circuits in 1998.  He has performed in venues large and small, which include the San Diego County Fair, The Arizona State Fair, the Prado Theatre in San Diego, CA, the Rosarito Beach Hotel in Rosarito Mexico and the Tijuana Convention Center in Tijuana Mexico to name a few. He was invited to become a teacher of Tango and performer of Salsa in Mexico’s largest performance dance academy. Ron has travelled extensively these past 6 years, studying Tango while attending many festivals throughout the United States. Along the way he has been exposed to many of the top Argentine Tango teachers from around the world.

Please join us this Monday, June 15 at 7:30 pm, when after a little time for us to settle in, Ron will share some of this knowledge and experience with us.

The mini-lesson will start about 7:45 to 8ish and last for about 30 minutes. Navigation, flying in formation, aerial acrobatics will then ensue, followed by our usual open, unguided, but not unorganized, practica. J

At Desperados, we know exactly where we’re going on Monday nights!

Happy dancing!

Scott, Michael, and your friends at Desperados
