DescriptionI want to propose this concept to you: the purpose of a tango step is not so much to keep you moving. What is it for? In our tango, there is no constant and forward momentum. If there's any—like we have when you're walking down the street, there's a constant forward momentum, or if you've ever danced or seen somebody dance ballroom there is a constant forward momentum, but part of the magic of Argentine tango is that we have an interval between our steps during which we feel our grounded-ness and we transmit that to our partner and we make them feel safe and stable. You know where you're standing. You feel solid. You feel stable and you feel secure. You're giving your security, your sense of stability. You are letting the woman in your arms know that she can trust you. When you're taking care of yourself, you also can then help her find her balance. She doesn't know this is going on. All she knows is whether she feels comfortable and safe with you. There's more to this, come and discover for yourself. DescriptionWhat Makes a Good Tango Lead, What Makes a Good Tango Follow? There are some eternal questions that are even more important than life, the universe and everything. Some of the most pivotal of these include: What makes a good tango leader/follower? How does a good leader/follower become great? How does your dance make the tango experience for your partner feel simply sublime? And will those brand-name tango shoes noticeably improve my dancing? Answer these, and you have - apparently - wildly surpassed the legendary wisdom of even King Solomon himself. Or perhaps not, be it a far cry for this teacher to assume he has all the answers to such life-and-death matters. Rather, and probably much more entertaining, is a set of o so wonderful and eloquent classes guided in introspection, reflections and collaboration in this beautiful dance.
