[TSOM-Announce] This Saturday: U of MN Tango Club "Milonga Caliente" featuring live music from "Hiawatha Tango Orchestra"!

U of MN Tango Club "Milonga Caliente" featuring live music from "Hiawatha Tango Orchestra"!

Sat, Jan 17, 9PM-1AM. 2 sets of live music at 10:30 and 11:30.
University Baptist Church, 1219 University Avenue in Dinkytown (1 block from Loring Pasta Bar)

This will be a milonga you won't want to miss! HTO hasn't played together in our home town in a while, but we've been busy studying, practicing, arranging and composing tango music. (and even dancing a little!) We have a lot of new music for your tango pleasure: 3 peppy D'Arienzo tangos, 3 Troilo milongas, 3 dramatic Puliglese tangos and the world-premiere of 3 new vals by Bob.

The Hiawatha Tango Orchestra is a quintet (Bandoneon, Piano, 2 Violins, & Bass) devoted to playing traditional golden age tango for dancing. HTO is lead by bandoneonist Bob Barnes (of Mandragora Tango) and Dr. Jerrod Wendland (of Rogue Tango) on piano. HTO also has very special guest violinist Sara Pajunen (Tango Tahden, Abandonada) joining violinist Amy Tobin and bassist Blake Bonde as their string section.

There'll be candlelight, snacks, punch, and lots of great dancing!

For this special live music event, we are suggesting a $20 donation, $10 for students. Pay less if you are just coming to listen.

The milonga is in the social hall of the University Baptist Church at 1219 University. Please use the University Avenue entrance. Look for our sign outside the church!

Parking is available in the church lot and at the
library next door. There is also a large U of M lot
at 13th Ave & 5th St (less than two blocks away!)

We hope to see you soon!!!
