[TSOM-Announce] Fwd: Mindful tango at Tango & I......

Tango mindfulness

Mindfulness meditation, a technique focused on the observing breathing, heartbeat, thoughts and feelings without judgement.

Finding this focus while we dance tango, a meditative state, a flow, an optimal zone, is possible. Sometimes it is a small tiny sliver of a moment, where you feel blissful. Other times they can last for a whole song or, even better, a tanda.

Mindfulness builds the mind-body emotional bond, the body is the dancers instrument.

You need to first think and focus on where you are yourself, how am I feeling today and how can I be present in this body and this room ( at a milonga for example) As soon as you are able to be present, your dance partner will sense that. And by doing so, you are able to create a mindful partnership, that is creative, kind and without judgement.

Easier said than done. Lucky that we have some technique available to create awareness in our body and mind through tango movement and the music that is being played.  At Tango & I we try as much as we can to fold these techniques into the curriculum.

Our hope is to create mindfulness in tango, yet another reason to pick up Argentine Tango!

If you would like to work on this a little more extensively  Please do not hesitate to contact me.

With warmth,

Sabine Ibes

If you love to dance Argentine Tango and want to challenge yourself to improve faster, look better on the floor, and entertain spectators, entering a dance competition might be right for you!
Dance training with a specific time frame and goal in mind will increase your ability to retain tango movement in your body, and help you dance with precision and self-awareness. Plus — you'll increase your self-confidence, simply because you did it!

The dancers that you compete with will be in the same age range and developmental level as you are.
There is a level playing field because only certain elements are allowed.
Look here for rules, regulations and how to register
And contact Sabine if you would like to sign up with her!
