Let's Get Started

Congratulations to the "Los Gauchos ~ Tango Challenge graduates"

3 months!  THREE months they worked so hard on their tango! They've attended all the practicas with their tango buddies, they came to group classes and every week they also attended their Los Gauchos team meeting. And for the last 2 weeks they met up with their recital partners to practice their dance for the "debutant tango ball"     It showed!  The musicality was there, the movements, the embrace, the community dance circle!  Morgan and I were proud tango mamas.   Misty, Angelines, Kurt, Anne, Brad, Jack, Janet, Fred  and (not pictured)  Joe  You absolutely rocked it!!!

Tango & I presents : Morgan Keil

Morgans high school choir teacher used to tell her "If the composer wrote the same note twice in a row it should be sung two different ways." Why should singers have all the fun? Regardless of whether you are working on your walk for the first time, or exploring it for the fiftieth time, each step can shine (and make your partner smile). Come play with our whimsical and talented community during this guided practica that will explore how we can bring music to each movement.

  • Saturday July 14 11.30 -12.30

  • No need for a partner - but....dancing with friends is more fun

  • Guided practica = $12 ( you can use your class pass)

What is the Tango Front?

Sabine Ibes and Miriam Ziven are both creative organizers who teach tango in the Twin Cities. It has always been an idea in Sabine's mind to have an umbrella program for beginner tango dancers in different studios across town. Miriam was keen to step up to the plate! Both teachers adjusted their beginner curriculum so the material would be the same, there for tango dancers who just started and can now practice together, play and discover together! The  mission of the Tango Front is to provide a safe platform for beginner Tango dancers in the Twin cities to get to know one another, strengthen their knowledge with information, and create conversation to support their dance. One Huggable dance at a time.

The tango front offers 3 beginners classes a week, if you miss one class you can easily make it up another day of the week.
Wednesday evening - Thursday evening - Saturday morning. In September we intend to add one more class during the daytime.

Stay tuned for beginner practica and beginner milonga as well!

Send your beginner dancer friends to the platform, tango learning material is presented such as videos of curriculum!  Click right here!

One last thing.

The tango challenge? It could NEVER have happened if it weren't for our whole welcoming Minneapolis Tango community! But especially those that showed up every week to be a tango buddy for the Challenge Students.

~ Jennifer Wang, Linda McFadden, Michael Kane, Janeen Rae, Fran , Paul Lohman, Susan McKenna, Irene Erickson, Barbara Haselbeck ~

Making sure that the students encountered learning tango in such a pleasant way. Peer to peer learning is a powerful tool. And everybody knows you learn through experience. Not only that, they were there to cheer them on at the milonga con~fusion as well!  You are super cool people!
Some of the tango buddies doubled as recital partners, like Susan and Barbara. But most of the recital partners were other community tango members! : Megan Harrington, Dorothy and Doug dusold, Kian Dwyer, John Ibes, Renee, Morgan Keil and Katya Dawe.

It takes a village, our tango village!
Thank you!
