Tapestry Folkdance Center is focusing on Argentine Tango during their April Sunday Ballroom Dance series. I will teach a class in Argentine Tango at Tapestry before every one of their Ballroom Dance Sundays in April, starting this Sunday, April 1st at 6:00, and again on Sunday, April 15 and Sunday April 29th. This is your chance to help others get an understanding of this beautiful dance, and help them join the tango community, so be sure to tell your friends who are not yet tango dancers. What a deal!! Then, on the last Sunday, April 29th, they are going to have a Tango Milonga after the ballroom variety dance starting at 9PM. Lesson, variety dance, then milonga!

Thursday, April 5, 3142 1st Ave S, Minneapolis, 55408. 7:30pm; $40 (Limited availability) For advanced and serious dancers: Special, highly advanced workshop with Oscar Casas. Complex figures and compounded turns. He will show us how to use these as building blocks for navigation and improvisation.

Friday, April 6 - Class & milonga! Black Dog Cafe, 308 Prince Ave St. Paul, MN
CLASS: 7:00pm - 8:00pm $25 Pre-Milonga class: Milonguero Figures & the Embrace (All levels) This class explains all the most comfortable, efficient and elegant ways to develop a social dance,

MILONGA: 8:00pm$10 The Black Dog Cafe has a great selection of beer and wine, and excellent food. They have a new event area where the dance will be held. You can also spend some time next door listening to live music.

1:00 p.m-2:30 .The Art of leaning (apilarce). Leaned figures with great female adornments that enhance the connection, the pause and highlights the woman's participation. (Inter Adv)

2:45 p.m.–4:15 p.m. - Vals: Consecutive turns (giros). Turns on two axes are important for the development of the waltz. The termination of such participation involves the participation of the women with respect to adornments, and the musical presence of specific movements

1:00–2:30 p.m. - Lapices con Paradas (Pencils with Stops) Technique for men and women focusing on these excellent figures for the social dance floor. (Advanced)

2:45 p.m.–4:15 p.m. – 100% Cadencia (Cadence) A challenging, classic milonguero technique that softens movements including tango suspensions. (Inter/Adv)

Musings: You've fallen in love with tango. Now you need to make a commitment to it. Commitment to something gives you your identity, and gives you a sense of purpose. In order to make your love work, you need to love it enough to build a structure of behavior around it - just in case your love falters. If you truly are in love with something, then of course you want to rise to the occasion. A structure of commitment to tango includes:1. group lessons 2. private lessons 3. practice and 4. milongas. You cannot truly get anywhere without a commitment which includes all of these things. Then you will truly deserve your love, and best of all, tango will love you back.

Buenos Aires!

Time to plan for 2018~ if you want to go on my tour! The next trip will be in November to December. Pick the dates that work for you and let me know so I can arrange housing. I'll need to know for sure, with a deposit, by the first of August. Limited space is available, so that I can give you the attention you deserve. We have so much fun!
