Classes this Week: August has arrived, which means it's time for another Milonga Month. If you are just starting, or if you haven't had some emphasis on this dance, it is important that you be here for Milonga Month. Dancing milonga well is an important way to keep your tango clean, musical, and beautiful. Plus it is fun! I hear a lot of guys say they don't dance milonga, while many women say they LOVE milonga. What's up with that?!? Not comfortable? Don't have enough moves? Can't tell a tango from a milonga? Let me help you make your milonga the best! Even if you truly don't like milonga, it's good for you. The technique and musicality you learn will absolutely improve your tango. Thursday Advanced Mostly medicine, not so much sugar, but if you've been doing this awhile you know it's worth it to get the moves you know just a little better. Try it! Anyway, it's included in your month's fees.
Tuesday Party: Relaxed, fun, welcoming atmosphere, no judgments, good food, good friends. Tuesday at 9, after the lessons.
Wednesday August 3: Picnic at Lake Calhoun! Join us at about 6:00 north of the 32nd Ave beach, east side of the lake. Listen for the tango music! Hopefully we will be able to sail. Bring picnic things! (Food, blankets, chairs, kayaks, suits, beverages, etc)
Private Lessons always available! Call to schedule.
Buenos Aires 2016: Get your reservations in now for the best price! We have an awesome group going this year. Leaving about November 18th, but you can pick the dates that work for you mndance.com/BA_Trip.html Musings: It is my considered opinion that many of us are missing an essential element of tango. What is that? Playfulness. Tango is serious business, maybe - we work hard to make the dance comfortable and beautiful for our partners. But that is what lessons and practicas are for. The dances are for fun. Often when I dance with someone, I can feel what they're thinking. Too often it is so crammed with worry about what to do next and whether that last thing was right, that the beautiful moments that we are creating together are ignored. Tango is about the present. Don't let thoughts about what's coming or what is past ruin the beauty of the now. Work hard at your job. Work hard in lessons to improve. Then, be like the Argentines - let it go, and reward yourself with a night of just pleasure. No mistakes, no judgements, no worries, just you, your friends, the embrace, and the music. Too Minnesotan? Give yourself the gift of at least three dances a night where you don't think - just play. I bet they'll be the best dances of the night. |
