Tango Challenge
We are starting a new tango challenge for beginners in September! A fresh approach to learning tango! Tango & I is very proud to be working together with Oxygen Tango in Los Angeles, the founders of the tango challenge! A very successful program to introduce new dancers, or to deepen knowledge for more seasoned dancers.
September - October - November   A tango challenge offers progressive, structured learning in a small semi-private group. With a clear end goal and dedicated coaches. You will learn about the movement, the music and the partnership. In this case it takes a whole team to tango!

Why practice your tango?

Becoming an expert is a marathon, not a sprint.

You cannot reach your mental and physical limits in just a few weeks or months. To grow to the top of your tango game, you'll have to persevere for many creative tango dancing years!

When we learn a new skill, whether it is knitting, driving a car, dancing tango or playing chess, we are changing how your brain is wired on a deep level. Science has shown us that the brain is incredibly plastic - meaning it does not harden at a young age and stay solid for the rest of our lives. While certain things, like learning a new language, are more easily learned by children than adults, we have plenty of evidence that older adults can see real transformation in their neuro circuitry and adapt to new ways of moving, like in the Argentine Tango.

In other words, it's not about what you're born with, it's about how consistently and deliberately you can work to improve any performance.

Here are four important aspects of practicing your tango skills well, and something that is provided for you in a safe learning environment: the practica at Dance Life Ballroom.

1 You must be motivated to attend to the task and exert effort to improve your performance

2 The design of the task should take into account your pre-existing knowledge so that the task can be correctly understood after a brief period of instruction. ( In class or practica)

3 You should receive immediate informative feedback and knowledge of results of your performance.

4 You should repeatedly perform the same or similar tasks.

Every Saturday morning (11 till 1) we at Tango and I host a tango practice session: "a Practica"  Staff is always on hand to answer any questions you have about improving your dance technique, musicality, tango steps vocabulary and more.
So come and join us: Saturday mornings right after the foundation class from 11 till 1 at Dance Life Ballroom. $ 5, or 10 times for $45!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Do you know Fabian Salas and his partner Lola Diaz? Have you heard about them through the tango grapevine?
This is a living tango legend: Fabian helped shape the Argentine Tango the way it is danced today. Together with Gustavo Naveira, Pablo Veron and later Chicho Frumboli they made Tango available to people like you and me through setting up tango lessons all over the world. They are pioneers when it comes to traveling tango teachers. Fabian has been teaching tango for over 30 years, and he brings with him a wealth of knowledge. His teaching style is precise and he brings a lot of humor to the classroom. His partner ( and wife) Lola adds sparkles to the flame.   NOT TO BE MISSED!
July 15 - 16 - 17 in Rochester MN
A fun clip to watch from the movie THE TANGO LESSON 1997
Fabian is wearing the checkered shirt, Pablo is the tap dancer, and the other fabulous dancer is Gustavo Naveira.  All danced to Yo Yo Ma - Libertango Piazolla
