A festive month, think ballroom, big gowns, sparkle, full orchestras, think Waltz.
As a young girl I was simply in love with dancing and these images, this particular image is from a 1955 Austrian trilogy Sissi.
The Waltz was a very "risky" dance in the early to mid 1700: there was an embrace ( oh my!) And you were able to actually look into your partners eyes!

September, a new school year starts

The same Waltz was also danced in Buenos Aires, in the early 1800, and has evolved from there into an Argentine Valz. It took about 100 years to do so! And the dance is still evolving as we speak!

For the month of September we will bring that trimmed down Valz version to you every Wednesday evening in the 7.30 and 8.30 classes.  ( October: Milonga!)  The 7.30 and 8.30 classes will be a continuation series. So we highly recommend you signing up for both classes, especially when you are an intermediate level dancer.

We start our tango series with the beginners classes at 6.30:

If you are a beginner tango dancer, you do not need to bring a partner to class. We make sure that there are always dance partners, instructors and assistants available to dance with you. You will not be sitting down in these classes! Bring shoes that you can pivot ( spin ) in easily. The first class at the Social Dance Studio (SDS) is free, tell your friends!

Our beginning series you will learn both sides (lead and follow) of the 8 count basic, you will learn the forward and backward ochos, a full turn and a half a turn. You will learn to feel comfortable on the dance floor with a partner, listening to tango music and understanding a bit more about the Argentine tango itself.   These are 8 week series, and we start with a new serie EVERY month!

7.30 ALL level series ( A plus B)
Argentine Tango VALZ 1, familiarize yourself with this happy sounding music, the fast 1-2-3, the particular movements like turns, and sacadas. This is a feeling about the valz that is very difficult to describe, you will have to dance it to understand ( :    The valz should feel like a different dance than the tango or milonga. We will start the class together, and split the levels of the class in group A and B. (if you are not sure what level you should be dancing at, please ask Diana or myself)

8.30 Intermediate and Advanced
Argentine Tango VALZ 2 series:  If at all possible please come join us for the 7.30 class as well. You will enjoy the continuation of the movements, understanding more about why a movement is possible and the nuances that are so well knows in the tango dance. Stepping on very particular beats, faster continuas turns, and really making a difference in your quality of dancing the valz rhythm.
