Virtual/Outdoor Public Dances - Tuesday Tango Party 9:00 Milonga with talk, food and wine. Theme of the week. 3142 1st Ave S, 55408. $5
| | | This week in socially distanced classes! We are having another class and get-together virtually/at the studio. Our special guest for the class is Julia "Pugliese" Doynel, the goddess of Buenos Aires milonga organizers. Julia organizes several of the most successful milongas in Buenos Aires and makes them so much fun. She is a delightful host, and is my inspiration for the milongas I host here. For a sense of her milongas, click here: youtube.com/watch?v=bvxMABdshAg We will talk about many things, including how she organizes, how she started, and what things are like in Buenos Aires now. Join us for some tango knowledge, and then some hanging out. We will be virtual as well as outside - with all social distancing rules applied. Bring a chair and your mask. Lesson is at 7:30, party at 9. Log on the same way you have before: it's easy! You can join with your video camera, or mute your mic and-or turn off your video. Same links as ever, just click here on your phone or computer: https://meet.google.com/fbu-xbiy-jjs Otherwise, to join by phone, dial +1 774-404-2649 and enter this PIN: 959 028 975# Private Lessons: Yes, we can have a socially distanced lesson here if you bring your own partner. Or we can do a video lesson - it works great! Tuesday Milonga: It's a garden party! Outside, and we will have tango music playing for responsible dancing on the smooth garage floor. Bring a chair, your mask, a beverage, and/or a treat to share. Come and join us! It is so nice to see people in person again. If you can't join us physically, we'll have the computer going on for remote interaction. Click here on your phone or computer, and have your adult beverage ready: https://meet.go ogle.com/fbu-xbiy-jjs Actual food, drink and seeing each other. Let's do it! Musings: As I watched several of the Buenos Aires milonga videos to pick out one to share, I felt many things. Sadness, of course, because I am not there, in the arms of one of the great Porteño dancers and will not be for some time. Nostalgia, for all of the great times that I have spent there. Strangeness - how did we get to this eerie spot? And anger - this is so unfair! But I also felt joy, remembering that I HAVE tango, and I will have tango, for the rest of my life. I stumbled upon this great miracle of a dance, with its caresses and companionship, its music and pageantry, its challenges and rewards. When we dance again, when we join each other in an embrace, when we move to the music again, we will do so with all the more enthusiasm and gratitude. Maybe we won't take tango for granted - it will always be there when we want it, we can skip tango tonight. Maybe we will think - I should just go. And you know what I think? Yes. Yes, you should. | | | Tango Boutique! Clothes, shoes and accessories for the dancer. Clothes that fit, stay on, have color, flow beautifully, with real style. And great prices!
