Join me Saturday night, August 2, in downtown Minneapolis for a night of Argentine Tango at Four Seasons Dance Studio. Relax in an inviting, bohemian atmosphere and dance to the classic tangos of the Golden Age. Although there is no lesson beforehand, beginners are welcome.

[TSOM-Announce] Tango Fusion Milonga this Saturday at SDS
Saturday evening, a warm, actually hot, hot, hot Tango Fusion Milonga at the Social Dance Studio! ( the airco is on, but I am sure you get the intro….)
This Tango Fusion you have the opportunity to bring in your dance shoes that you no longer wear. The ones that you simply had to have but for some reason are not wearing. ( I have a pair of beautiful comme il fauts that are gathering dust, sigh) Make sure that you label them with your name and your price tag. And at the end of the evening, if they are not sold; take them with you again.
Paul Lohman will be spinning tunes ( as much as his computer will allow)
Sabine will be teaching a mini lesson at 9, bring your friends for this class. There will be enough material for them to have a great time on the dance floor, and enough material for you to incorporate in your tango dance as well.

We are having a special guest at our Mala Yunta milonga: Chippewa Candombera. Andy, from Montevideo (Minnesota) is a young percussionist that spent some time in Montevideo (Uruguay) studying Candombe with one of the best teachers, Alvaro. Alavro came to Minnesota this Summer and helped to train the "Chippewa Candombera" (dancers and musicians). They perform in parades and local events showing the authentic Candombe from Uruguay. You may recognize some of the dancers...

Upcoming Friday August 1st: Tango to the Blues and Blues Dancing classes and outing! Blues music has many similarities to tango, and sometimes is more approachable than tango because our ears are more familiar with it. I always see an increase in tango understanding with people who take this class. Blues Dancing is really popular around here - if you don't know it, you should. There are whole communities dedicated to it! Afterwards we'll go out together to a blues club and practice what we learned.
Duluth and Thunder Bay Tango Workshops: 2nd Weekend of August we will be teaching in Duluth. 4th Saturday of September we will be teaching in Thunder Bay, Canada.
Winter Tango Encuentro! That's right - I am co-hosting a Winter Tango festival in Mobile, Alabama the second weekend of January, 2015. You'll need to get away by then, right?!?Buenos Aires!

Because of the Aquatennial Parade happening at Hennepin Ave tomorrow it will be hard to find spots to park near 4 Seasons.
I decided then to move my class to the Ivy Building for TOMORROW ONLY.

The Ivy Building is just a few blocks north of Lake Street and Minnehaha Avenue in southeast Minneapolis.
The studio 231 is at the end of the north corridor of the second floor of the Building (the one on your left after the stairway)
There is plenty of parking on the street but the only annoying thing is that the main door of the building is locked after 7 pm.
I strongly encourage you to arrive before 8 pm.
I will be downstairs from 7:30 to 8 pm to let everybody in.
If you arrive after 8 pm you will have to call my cell phone 612-735-6579 so I can send somebody to open the door for you but try to make it on time as much as possible.
I can also send somebody after 15 and 30 minutes of starting the class to check if somebody was left outside.
I apologize for the inconvenience but I could not find other studio available at the last minute and this studio is beautiful and has a great AC for this very hot temperatures. :)
We will have a great class working on the quality of the movement, the musicality and the deep connection with your partner.
Ladies molinetes started to be much more fluid and stable lately so we can now start playing more with enrosques & lápices for the gentleman.
Please come and support your partner, having an even class with balance gender works better for all of us and we learn faster that way.
Women who wants to lead and gentlemen who wants to follow are always welcome in this class with great benefit for all of them!!!

This is to let you know that I am having one of my most popular workshops in Minnesota next August 10.
Is an all levels workshops so you are welcome to attend.
Milonga is part of the 3 rhythms we dance, tango, milonga and vals and is easier than tango but faster and is a very happy rhythm to dance.
The ones that are familiar with salsa would find easier to do milonga.
And is waaaaayy so much fun.

I created this intensive to introduce students of all levels slowly in to milonga patterns so they feel comfortable with it.
I usually start with a "candombe" warm up, then simple milonga patterns and soon we'll start playing with traspie or syncopated milonga patterns.
I would like to honored 3 of my teachers and milonga mentors on this intensive.
I have the honor to perform with one of them, Pepito Avellaneda on 1993, many people consider him the best milonga dancer ever existed. :)
