For all you early birds who wished you didn't have to leave so early, this is the month for you to stay late! Daylight savings ends Nov 3. You can think of it as an extra hour of sleep, or an extra hour of dancing!

Join me Saturday night, November 2, in downtown Minneapolis for a night of Argentine Tango at Four Seasons Dance Studio. Relax in an inviting, bohemian atmosphere and dance to the classic tangos of the Golden Age. Although there is no lesson beforehand, beginners are welcome.

Light snacks, wine and soft drinks are available. Feel free to BYOB.

This Friday---November 1st---ROGUE TANGO hosts the First Friday at Four Seasons' Dance Studio (1637 Hennepin Avenue).

The Theme is:  " The wrong christmas clothes "   That could mean: that odd looking sweater with reindeer wearing red and green socks that your auntie Marge knitted for you, or the Elf ears that you thought would be "cute" 20 years ago ( and are still haunting you every time you open that drawer) Or, some other inappropriate attire. What ever or how ever "wrong" it is

[TSOM-Announce] Alejandro Ziegler Tango Quartet

 

Hello tangueros, 

I am pleased to announce that Alejandro Ziegler Tango Quartet is back in the Twin Cities on Nov 9-10!

Many of you remember and are still longing to listen to them again!  

If you don't know them, here is a short bio:

Born in 2007, the Alejandro Ziegler Tango Quartet, is an ensemble of piano, violin, bandoneón and double bass that developed its own unique style of tango music.  Their music reflects both, innovation and tradition, becoming a new synthesis of the traditional tango orchestra. They play in the style of Di Sarli, Pugliese, Troilo and Piazzola among others. With their unique mix of tango, improvisation and romanticism, the Alejandro Ziegler Tango Quartet has gained international fame with its interpretations. It is now touring North America for a second time and will have only 2 performances in Miinnesota: one Milonga and one Concert.

[TSOM-Announce] Four Seasons Dance will temporarily suspend new class on Tuesday nights

Four Seasons Dance will temporarily suspend our new "Continuing Basics" class on Tuesday night from 7 to 8pm. Our thanks to the people that showed up this month and to Eric Li for teaching. For those of you that did not get a chance to attend but were interested, please send us an email to let us know if you would be willing to attend in Jan or Feb. We will continue with our Intermediate Level class on Tuesday at 8pm taught by Micheal Cordner and Andrea DuCane. Hope to see you there!

After some debate i've decided to hold the regular milonga this Friday eve. I know it's a busy weekend with workshops and two other venues.

Some of you dance more than once a week and some don't attend workshops and others appreciate dancing tango to tango music. That said I'll give it a whirl.

With so much competition it's getting difficult to get people out on a Friday so I'm hoping to see enough to keep us going. Thanks for your long support of this milonga

[TSOM-Announce] TOMORROW WELCOME THE OLD STUDENTS BACK TO CLASS!!!!

Hello everybody,

As for tomorrow I will leave the topic open to what the majority wants, you can ask anything but we will have to stick with one thing and develop until the end of class.

I hope everybody is back from the "blues" of the season and start coming back to classes.

If you haven't noticed yet, dancing is the best remedy for your blues, moving your body generates endorfines and specially if you do it from your heart as you do it in tango.

Come, have fun, meet new students, help new students, and after all that learn to dance argentine tango as you are in Argentina.

This is priceless!!!!

Teresa will be substituting for Sarah tomorrow and she will be registering students before 8 pm.

Come early to register after 7:40 pm so we can all start on time at  8 pm and end by 9:30.

Teresa will be assisting the class as well, she has been attending my performing group rehearsals and she has been in my classes for many years, you are going to like Teresa.

[TSOM-Announce] Tango Fusion this Saturday with Guest Instructors. Not to be missed!

Oil and toil bubble and boil.  Yes it true, it is the 4th Saturday of October and that means Tango Fusion! And no, we are not going to be in costume.  Save that for the SDS milonga on October 30th! 

We are fortunate to start the evening with a class with Michelle and Murat Erdemsel.    Class is from 8.15 - 9.30 pm.  The topic is "games and circularity".  This will be a class for advanced beginner/ intermediate dancers and is not included in the milonga price *

The milonga will start immediately after the class with DJ Pablo ( aka Paul Lohman) spinning the tunes.

My greatest joy is making visitors feel comfortable in the authentic Porteño tango world and in BA. I will take you to milongas that are right for your level. I will introduce you to my milonguero/a friends. Some of them will naturally dance with you, opening the door for other connections on the dance floor. You bypass the usual initiation period in BA milongas, and feel immediately like you belong. When you dance often and with very good milonguero/as, your trip is so much more valuable. My tango house guests also enjoy the camaraderie of other housemates - for meals at home, for milongas and classes, for practicing in the tango room, for jaunts around the city. If you come to Buenos Aires with us, you can have as much autonomy as you desire, but you never have to feel alone. We have parties, typical Argentine meals, and usually an asado. I will give you city tours, shoe and clothes shopping tours (with the best discounts), and help you to become familiar with the streets and public transportation so that you can feel comfortable. I will help you negotiate and understand the current complex money situation as well as keep you out of trouble. I provide maps and guides, as well as help you find the best deals and steer clear of overpricing and fraud, which can be common, especially for the tango tourist. We are very fortunate as a tango community in the twin cities to have visiting instructors coming to town. They all have such valuable information to give. And they are right here at your door step.

Murat and Michelle Erdemsel are a tango couple not to be missed. Their classes are innovative, informative, fun ( and funny).
